CPB is looking for (senior) researchers with housing market or climate expertise
Working together to produce economic analyses and projections as a basis for better informed government policy.
What will be your role as an employee?
If you welcome the chance to explore such questions using microeconomic data from the housing sector, households and businesses, and have experience of working with empirical methods, you could be a valuable addition to our team!
We are looking for two new members of staff, one with research experience in the housing market and the other in the field of climate. Both roles offer the opportunity to carry out independent research, initiate new research, actively maintain a network within policy and science, and represent CPB externally. If you are a senior researcher, we also expect you to have what it takes to take the lead in research projects and publish in scientific journals.
You will join a dedicated team of highly skilled professionals working on economic projections and policy-relevant economic research. You will quantify and analyse the socio-economic effects of policy options and make a valuable contribution to maintaining and improving CPB’s models. In doing so, you will work at the interface of economic research and policy, answer questions from external parties and interact with both policymakers and the academic world.
Who we are looking for
· You are a university graduate, preferably with a Master’s degree in economics or econometrics or a Master of Research (MRes) degree. A PhD and/or relevant work experience are a plus.
· As a researcher, you should have clear affinity with the topic – climate or housing market – for which you are applying. In addition, a senior researcher is expected to have demonstrable knowledge of the relevant theme.
· You are experienced in quantitative analysis based on micro-data, including the use of Stata, R, Matlab and/or Python.
· You have demonstrable affinity with both policy analysis and quantitative economic analyses.
· You are a team player who actively and enthusiastically exchanges knowledge, information and ideas with others.
· You possess strongly developed analytical skills and the ability to present new solutions, ideas and unexpected perspectives.
· You are skilled in forming an opinion based on relevant argumentation and arriving at a considered judgement.
· You are able to explain complex issues clearly and win others over to an idea with appealing arguments.
· You are results-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
· If you are not a Dutch speaker but meet the job requirements and are willing to learn the necessary Dutch language skills (both written and spoken), you are also welcome to apply. Dutch is our working language and we will actively support you in your efforts to master the language.
