Experienced scientific researcher

CPB Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis is regularly looking for new staff members. Together, we work on economic analyses and projections to contribute to well-founded policy. Here, you will find our current vacancies and some practical information about working at CPB.

CPB is looking for experienced research staff members 

Job description

Experienced staff members at CPB are: in charge of larger project teams, initiate new research, publish in scientific journals on a regular basis, actively manage their network within the realms of policy and science, and represent our organisation in the outside world. 

You will be working within a team of highly educated professionals on economic projections and policy-relevant economic research. There are job opportunities within all of CPB’s programmes. You will be quantifying and analysing the socio-economic effects of policy options and will contribute to maintaining and improving CPB’s models. In doing so, you will be working at the interface of economic research and policy, answering questions from third parties in interaction with both policymakers and the academic world.

Job requirements and competences

  • You have a university degree, preferably in economics or econometrics or a Master of Research (MRes) degree, and at least a few years or work experience.
  • You have demonstrable affinity with both policy issues and quantitative economic analyses.
  • You are a team player who will actively share knowledge, information and ideas with others.
  • You have strongly developed analytical skills and are able to present new solutions, ideas and sometimes unexpected perspectives.
  • You form an opinion on the basis of arguments and considerations, leading to an informed judgement
  • You are able to explain complex issues, clearly and adequately. You also make an effort to convince others of a certain idea or viewpoint, using sound and compelling arguments. 
  • You are focused on obtaining results and are able to meet deadlines.
  • You are prepared to learn the language if you are not fluent in Dutch.

    Description of the organisation 

    CPB conducts economic analyses and projections that contribute to well-founded policy. CPB is a research institute that is an organisational part of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.   • §  Excellent educational and training possibilities, including PhD research.
  • §  Appointments are generally for a period of three years. After two years, we will tell you whether or not your appointment will be converted into a permanent contract.

  • Depending on their knowledge and experience, scientific staff members are generally awarded a salary that ranges from salary scale 10 to 12, which may expand to scale 13 for experienced staff. (https://www.caorijk.nl/) .
  • In addition to the salary, staff members also receive a so-called individual choice budget (individueel keuzebudget (IKB)). This IKB budget consists partly of money (16.37% of the gross annual salary) and time. 
  • CPB provides good conditions for hybrid working.
